Elysia M. Shevat

LMHC

Elysia’s journey into mental health counseling is rooted in over a decade of direct, hands-on experience supporting diverse populations—including children to young adults, families, couples, and adults. As an active social worker for nearly ten years, she gained firsthand insight into the resilience and challenges faced by communities, inspiring her passion for trauma recovery and holistic healing.

After completing her Clinical Mental Health Counseling training at Canisius University in Buffalo, NY, Elysia discovered her calling in serving those impacted by trauma. She now specializes in complex trauma, mindfulness, grief, and loss, providing compassionate and trauma-informed care to military personnel, veterans, law enforcement officers, corrections officers, first responders, and their families.

Elysia’s deep understanding of these communities is complemented by her personal background   she comes from a family of military members and first responders. Her direct exposure to the demands and emotional toll of service fuels her dedication to helping individuals navigate the unique emotional and psychological challenges associated with public safety careers.

In addition to her clinical work, Elysia is passionate about neuropsychology, mindfulness, and holistic wellness. She leads mindfulness training and meditation support groups, emphasizing the transformative power of presence and awareness. Her therapy modalities include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Relational-Cultural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Gestalt approaches integrating multicultural, psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and person-centered perspectives.

Whether guiding clients through life’s difficulties or exploring the latest research on consciousness and resilience, Elysia remains committed to supporting law enforcement, military , correction officers, first responder personnel and their families in finding healing, balance, and lasting well-being.
