Currently, Susan works as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor at Calm Seas Psychotherapy with adults and children.  She has worked as a school counselor with diverse populations both in San Diego, CA and Buffalo, NY for over 20 years. Additionally, Susan’s professional experience incorporates nutritional and behavioral health coaching and small business entrepreneurship. Susan’s extensive experience working in Title 1 schools has helped to shape an empathic understanding of the social, emotional, academic and behavioral needs of children and their families. Susan utilizes a solution-focused approach and works to honor individuals for who they are and the goals they set for themselves using therapeutic interventions such as CBT, DBT, creative art therapy, play therapy, motivational interviewing, therapeutic animal support, and nutrition and exercise. Counseling areas of special interest are trauma, chronic pain, PTSD, adoption and anxiety.
