Susan M Prise

Susan Prise earned her MA in School Counseling from the University of San Diego and has completed her CMHC though Canisius College.  She has worked as a school counselor with diverse populations in San Diego, CA and Buffalo, NY for over 20 years. Additionally, Susan’s professional experience incorporates nutritional and behavioral health coaching and small business entrepreneurship.  Susan’s extensive experience working in Title 1 schools has helped to shape an empathic understanding of the social, emotional, academic and behavioral needs of children and their families.

Susan utilizes a solution-focused approach and works to honor individuals for who they are and the goals they set for themselves using therapeutic interventions such as DBT, creative art therapy, play therapy, motivational interviewing, therapeutic animal support, nutrition and exercise.  Counseling areas of special interest are trauma, chronic pain, PTSD, adoption and anxiety.  Susan believes that we are stronger together and sees therapeutic engagement as a collaborative process, rooted in respect, honesty, and vulnerability.
