Natasha Cunningham
MS, LMHC, CASAC-T
Natasha Cunningham, MS, LMHC, CASAC-T is a highly dedicated and mission-driven mental health professional with over eight years of experience working with vulnerable and underserved populations across the lifespan. She holds dual master’s degrees—one in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Saint Bonaventure University and another in Applied Psychology with a specialization in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Lynn University. She also earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Columbia College.
Natasha began her career in residential treatment settings, working with dually diagnosed individuals who required intensive support to remain safe. She went on to serve as a behavioral specialist, delivering targeted therapy for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Her expertise in crisis intervention was sharpened through her work with Central New York’s Mobile Crisis Unit, where she operated within a dual-response model alongside EMS and law enforcement to support individuals in acute mental health crises. She later joined a intensive Crisis Stabilization Clinic, treating individuals with severe mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders. Simultaneously, she maintained a part-time private practice caseload, primarily working with young adults.
Throughout her career, Natasha has built a vast knowledge of community-based resources, further bolstered by her time with Helio Health’s Outpatient and Engagement Team. Her therapeutic style is grounded in psychodynamic principles, and she brings deep experience in treating trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. She is particularly passionate about working with clients from culturally diverse and marginalized communities.
Beyond the clinical setting, Natasha’s dedication to service is global. She has volunteered in East Africa, advocating for mental health reform at Port Reitz Sub-County Mental Hospital and conducting mental health clinics in schools and orphanages.
Prior to her academic and clinical pursuits, Natasha served in the U.S. Army as a firefighter—a role that sparked her enduring commitment to crisis intervention and first responder support. She has since earned her EMT-B certification (pending finalization) and volunteers with the Mattydale Fire Department.
