Makenna Wheeler, LMSW
Makenna is a licensed social worker with a Master’s in Social Work from Tulane University and a deep commitment to serving those who serve others. She specializes in supporting law enforcement, first responders, military personnel, and their families through a grounded and compassionate approach to care.
Her clinical background includes frontline crisis response in Baltimore County, where she worked alongside law enforcement during acute mental health emergencies. These experiences gave her a firsthand understanding of the complex stressors faced by first responders and their families, including trauma exposure, burnout, and the impact of public safety culture on home life.
Makenna also has focused expertise in perinatal and maternal mental health, with a special interest in supporting parents balancing service careers and family life. She provides culturally competent, trauma-informed care for individuals managing anxiety, mood disorders, identity transitions, and complex grief.
Her therapeutic style is insight-oriented and relational, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and family systems approaches. Makenna creates a safe, supportive space where clients feel seen, understood, and empowered to move forward—both personally and professionally.
Whether navigating a critical incident, managing cumulative stress, or working to strengthen relationships, Makenna brings clinical expertise, cultural awareness, and deep respect for the demands of service.
