Lurdes Irizarry is an MSW candidate at The University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work. She earned a Master of Arts in Psychology from Drury University, showcasing her understanding of human behavior and mental health. Lurdes has honed her skills in crisis intervention through her role as a Crisis Counselor where she provided immediate support and guidance to individuals in distress. This experience, combined with her recent internship at a domestic violence shelter has equipped her with a deep empathy and nuanced approach to supporting survivors of trauma. Lurdes has served in the Army for nine years, a testament to her commitment to service and resilience. Her deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom has endowed her with a unique perspective on stress, trauma, and the human capacity for resilience, further enriching her approach to social work. Lurdes utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model in her practice, recognizing the uniqueness of each client’s situation and the need for personalized care strategies. She is dedicated to providing exemplary care, prioritizing the create of a safe and nurturing environment where her clients can flourish.
