MSW Candidate

Shavona Layne is an MSW candidate enrolled at Stony Brook University’s School of Social Welfare. She holds a Masters of Art in Psychology from Queens College, as well as a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from St. Joseph’s College. Shavona has attained 10 years of experience as a Rape Crisis Counselor, where she has acquired skills and knowledge in Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Crisis Intervention, within an agency, as well as Hospitals.
Shavona has a passion for the Social Science field and prides herself on the work she has been doing thus far. She believes all good work starts from a good clinician and prides herself on constantly trying to better her clinical skills, to give her clients the best possible work she can. Shavona uses a trauma-informed approach as well as the use of the Strengths-based approach, in addition to techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
