Jenn Johnston

LCSWR

Jenn is a licensed clinical social worker with a master’s degree from the University of Buffalo.  She has training and experience in working with adults and children challenged with depression, mood disorders, trauma, grief, anxiety, ADHD, and psychosis. At this time in her long career, her clinical work is focused on adults and trauma treatment.

Jenn is an EMDRIA certified therapist and is also practicing as a EMDR Consultant in Training.  EMDR is an evidence based trauma treatment. She has found that recent traumas are positively impacted by this modality and especially appreciates the opportunity to support and heal the aftermath of traumatic loss and officer involved shootings.

Jenn has a strong background in corrections and community mental health.   She also worked in NYC assisting survivors of the World Trade Center terrorist attack.  Jenn has insight and sensitivity to the issues faced by first responders.  She is a law enforcement family member and has lived experiences in the first responder culture.

Jenn provides compassionate care while honoring the capacity for self-determination and empowerment.  This work has become her passion and purpose. Finding meaning in suffering has helped her to transform traumatic stress into traumatic growth and she hopes to be able to share this possibility with those she has the honor of treating.

"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
- Rainer Maria Rilke
