At Calm Seas Psychotherapy, we strongly discourage clients from subpoenaing therapists for court appearances. While the attorney issuing the subpoena is responsible for all related fees, the therapist’s testimony will be based solely on professional expertise and factual information—it will not necessarily be in favor of any party.

Court Appearance Policy and Fee Schedule
Fee Schedule for Court-Related Services:
Legal Fees and Expenses: Any and all legal fees and costs incurred by the therapist as a result of legal proceedings will be the responsibility of the requesting party.
Retainer and Expedited Fees: A retainer of $1500 is required in advance. If a subpoena or request to meet with attorneys is received with less than 48 hours’ notice, an additional $250 “express” charge will apply. If a case is rescheduled with less than 72 business hours’ notice, an additional $500 rescheduling fee will apply (in addition to the retainer). If the therapist must cancel or delay travel plans due to a court appearance, all fees will be doubled.
Return to Duty Evaluations: Return to Duty Evaluation (including narrative and communication with relevant parties): $500. These evaluations must be paid for by the requesting department.
Important Notice: *All fees are subject to change without prior notice. Please contact our office for the most up-to-date fee schedule. Insurance companies may have varying policies regarding coverage for court-related services.
