JoAnna is currently has her  Master of Social Work Student from  Stony Brook University. . She graduated from Suffolk County Community College with an Associates Degree in Psychology and went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in English with a minor in Creative Writing from Stony Brook University. JoAnna made the decision to pursue her Master’s Degree in Social Work because she is passionate about helping people with their mental health and overall wellbeing. 

During her first year as a graduate student, JoAnna interned at the Comsewogue and Sachem Public Libraries where she assisted clients with government assistance applications, housing, provided referrals and created a safe space for people to talk openly both in person and virtually. She also conducted library programs such as an LGBTQ+ Youth Support Group, Relax and Connect Virtual Support Group and a Mental Health Awareness Workshop for Teens. 

JoAnna is passionate about decreasing the stigma surrounding mental health treatment and strives to provide a safe and open space for her clients to express themselves. She is familiar with the Strengths-Based Perspective, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. She believes in a mindfulness based approach and is interested in learning more about, and utilizing, Somatic Therapy. JoAnna has an interest in working with teens, emerging adults and adults who have anxiety, depression, and trauma-related diagnosis, She is also knowledgeable about the LGBTQ+ Community.
